Types of railways in Korea
1. KTX / SRT (Rapid train)
KTX and SRT are South Korea’s high-speed rail system connecting major cities such as Seoul, Busan, Daegu and Gwangju.
With speeds exceeding 300km/h, They provides fast and efficient travel between destinations.
** KTX and SRT operate almost the same routes, except that Seoul and Yongsan, and Haengsin(Ilsan) stations are served only by KTX, while Pyeongtaek, Jije, Dongtan, and Suseo stations are exclusively served by SRT. Excluding the stations marked on the map where high-speed trains operate, only trains such as Mugunghwa and Saemaeul operated by KORAIL.
2. Mugunghwa and Saemaeul (Conventional Trains)
Mugunghwa and Saemaeul trains are operated KORAIL as well and offer slower but more economical travel options compared to KTX.
Conventional trains connect almost all regions within South Korea, providing travelers with diverse choices.
